In Italy

It is illegal to make comparative advertising!!!

How about that for modern freedom of speech… Premier Monti needs to change this communist dash fascist law.

So this is a statement not an advert. If you go onto Tripadvisor.com and search for food tours Parma you will find several operators that  have recommendations.

… these recommendations state a preference for either one operator or another.

Whenever I express my opinion I’m threatened.

For example my statement below

I THINK PARMA Xxxxxxx IS THE BEST

That is my opinion.

Last week I was threatened by two of these operators. This week again I receive a hysterical email.

It is disgusting in this day and age to be threatened for writing an interesting, infomative article about tour companies.

Xquisit natural organics: a creative story

1997 by Camilla Sundbladh
About
Welcome to Xquisit Organics Pure organic skincare with macadamia nut oil to penetrate deeply into your skin. We make organicday creams cleansereye cream face mist rosehip oil lip balm and moreno parabens, SLS etc
Company Overview
Created out of a love for nature
Growing up in Sweden, I developed a curiosity for nature and its uses for the human body, which became stronger after I moved to Western Australia as an adult.I began to learn that in nature there are unlimited uses for many of the plants and vegetables that we take for granted. For example, did you know:
• avocado contains a natural sunscreen
• rosehip oil has amazing healing properties for damaged skin

Not many of us do realise that organic skincare is an effective alternative to chemically-produced creams. Sadly we unknowingly load our skin with toxins and nasty chemicals.
I decided it was time people had a natural alternative to use on their skin and Xquisit Organics was born after years of research and development. Xquisit operates today from a site in Fremantle, Western Australia, producing beautiful organic skincare that is:
• deeply absorbent (accepted by the skin with the help of macadamia nut oil)
• gently and naturally fragranced with the most calming aromas
• free from SLS and parabens
• manufactured on site (not in a pharmaceutical lab)
• pure and luxurious
• so safe it can be ingested

And most of all, it works – try it and see for yourself!

iOS now supports folders. To create a folder all you need to do is tap and hold on an app until they all start to jiggle, then drag the app over another icon and release. Your iPad will create a folder with both the apps in. The folder will be named according to the category of the apps it contains, but you can rename it as you like.

2. Access all running apps

Double-clicking the Home button shows you all the apps that are running on your iPad in a bar along the bottom of the screen. To switch to a running app just tap on it here in this bar. Just swipe the screen downwards to remove this bar.

3. Orientation Lock or Mute?

The internet got mightily upset when Orientation Lock was replaced with Mute on the iPad during the last iOS update. Apple listened, and now you can head to Settings > General to choose between Lock Rotation and Mute.

4. Passcode Denied… DELETE ALL!

If you’re carrying around sensitive data, you can now enable a feature that’ll erase all the data on the device if someone inputs the incorrect passcode 10 times. Navigate to Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Erase Data.

5. Home Sharing

First, turn on Home Sharing in iTunes (Advanced menu) and on your iPad (Settings > iPod and enter your Apple ID). Next, launch the iPod app on your iPad. In the left column, find the little house with “Library” next to it. Tap on that and then on one of the Shared Libraries. It might take a few minutes to update, but then you can watch and listen to all of that Library’s media on your iPad.

6. Control iPad notifications

Have you ever played Tap Tap Revenge on the iPhone? Good, then you know how annoying notifications can be. These messages pop up on the iPad as well. but you can control them. Go to Settings, Notifications, and configure which alerts (and accompanying sounds) will appear.

7. Go VPN

The iPad supports a VPN connection. To configure it, go to Settings, then General > Network. Select the VPN and move the slider to On, then add a VPN configuration with your server and account details.

8. Stop asking to join Wi-Fi networks

If you’re fed up of getting bugged by messages asking if you’d like to join this or that Wi- Fi network all the time then head to Settings, Wi-Fi and turn off Ask to Join Networks. You can still join any network that will have you from this same screen, it just won’t bug you constantly when the opportunity arises.

9. Turn battery percentage off

Do you find the battery charge percentage distracting? The good news is you can turn it off very easily. Go to Settings, General, Usage and you can turn it off here.

10. Quick volume mute

When the iPad first launched, there was no dedicated mute button anywhere on the device. However, with iOS 4.3 Apple has given you the choice of using the lock switch to mute the sound or lock the iPad’s orientation. Either way, a good tip for quickly muting your iPad is to press and hold the Volume-down button.

11. Use an Apple keyboard

Missing a real keyboard? Any Apple Wireless Keyboard will work with the iPad. In fact, your iPad will work with any Bluetooth keyboard. Some iPad cases have a keyboard built in, which can be handy.

12. Connect to an HD TV

PARMIGIANO REGGIANO CHEESE TOUR

Parma FWT Parmigiano Reggiano cheese factory visit. Visiting a “Caseificio” is like going back in time. The “King of the cheeses” actually has very old origins and today, like 7 centuries ago, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese is still made following the same traditional and genuine methods. Parmigiano Reggiano cheese is protected by the European Union and can only be produced in a restricted area, the so called “zona tipica”, which includes the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, and a part of Bologna (left of the Reno river) and Mantova(right of the Po river). It takes about 2 hours to see the whole production, preferably early in the morning.

PARMA HAM TOUR

The production area of Prosciutto di Parma or Parma ham is located in the southern part of Parma province. Here, and only here, can genuine Parma Ham be produced. Using very heavy and selected Italian pigs and following the traditional and genuine method, Prosciutto di Parma is still produced like it was about 2000 years ago. Only four ingredients are necessary to produce Parma ham: a pork leg, a minimum quantity of salt to preserve the meat, the air to dry it out, and time, a lot of time, at least 12 months to get a perfect flavor. The plant opens 7 days per week.
Culatello, the most prized cold cut of Parma

CULATELLO TOUR

This excellent product is strictly tied to the Po River and real Culatello is actually produced in 12 small villages of the so-called “Bassa Parmense”all located along the right side of the Po River. Culatello is made from the best part of a pork leg, carefully salted and cured in the humidity of the caves, where the Culatello rests for at least 11 months and bears all the flavor, the smells and the history of the river.
Parma Golosa take you Inside the Balsamico world

TRADITIONAL BALSAMIC VINEGAR TOUR

Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia and of Modena is a real jewel for all gourmets. It is a unique vinegar based condiment as it is produced directly from grape juice. The liquid is then placed in wooden barrels and through an oxidation process over a dozen years it is transformed into aceto Balsamico. As this continues the sweetness overlays the residual 5% acidity until it becomes completely smooth. The sweetness is delicate, complex yet far beyond that of honey or sugar.  If honey were the finest wood – balsamico is the Stradivari.
And yes it is super fabulous on strawberries or fine vanilla ice cream – gellato.

The load down.. Food tour companies of Parma Bologna, review by Nick

Article:  Food tour companies Parma and Bologna: The load down

Tripadvisor reviews reveal strengths but importantly the weaknesses of these groups. This overview aims to give a balanced view of what’s on offer.

As a tour manager for Parma Golosa since 2008 I saw at first hand all the sites, sights and people in the industry… here’s how they shape up.  It aims at giving an unbiased view – boots on the ground.

Italian Days  -  Fun, Info Tour

HOST:

Goon fun Hi dee Hi! orientated popular tour guide Alessandro.  Popular with his clientèle because he is so in love with the product. Clients generally a mix of UK USA. But the tour has been criticised for over grouping and mixing – average size 8-12 and is not dedicated as such.  Also emphasis is on the ‘funny man’ antics of the tour guide. Costs are the market average no less.

Locations are very good – take a much wider arc of 300k for the whole 1 day tour – meeting in Bologna travelling to Parma, then Modena returning to Bologna – which is a lot because ID are based in Bologna and need to travel to Parma for the Ham tastings.  Timeline fairly long day 8-9 hrs.

Destinations: 7-10

Scenic: 8-10

Lunch: 9-10

Staff: knowledge:  10-10

Value:  8-10

Extras:  Lively dedicated pro, Vineyard lunch.

Guide

Cate and Nick are both Ex-Parma Golosa hosts, specializing in the classic food tours and tastings, country walks and lunches in the hills and mountain retreats. Both are passionate and love the foods:  assisted training of staff and assisting industry guides.

Locations

Parmigiano gourmet food tours are establishing great reputation for quality and fun and scenic Italian adventure. The Gourmet Castle lunch venue is a special moment. Super beautiful scenic Balsamico Estate (jewel in the Crown) and Ham locations. Cheese maker very good.

Destinations: 9- 10

Scenic: 10-10

Lunch: 9-10

Staff: knowledge:  10-10

Value:  9-10

Tour starts 8.45am – ends 4.00pm.

Food Valley –  Traditional, Historical

Rather high brow posh tour guides according to reviews, who are actually historical city trained but crossing over – cost of tour nearly double.  Larger groups again are general rule. 8hrs.

Locations

Parmesan tour is actually visiting one of a few large factory producers so rather impersonal.  Lunch is good, same location as PG.  Balsamico is in Modena.  Round trip long; 180k.

Destinations: 6.5 10

Scenic: 5-10

Lunch: 7-10

Staff: knowledge:  8-10

Value:  5-10

 Extras:  Historical details

Parma Golosa – Pleasant Info Tour

Guides are new since Oct 2012, but retain adequate-good traditional knowledge and qualities of the producers and are connected to the dairy and cold cut industries. 7hrs.

Locations

Fair-Decent quality:  Cheese tour very good – but perhaps according to a few Tripadvisor reviews, the Ham could be improved and the Balsamico is regarded from within the industry as a mid range level but lovely all the same.

Destinations: 7-10

Scenic: 5-10

Lunch:  8-10

Staff: knowledge:  7-10

Value:  7-10

Tour starts 8.45am – ends 3.30pm.
